Maria Nieto is a Costume Designer and Maker born in Freeport, New York. Her interest in storytelling through clothing was initially sparked by the Star Wars saga; how ingenuity, attention to detail, and depth of character merged together and served to build a more complete world. Maria’s work has been seen on the stages of such companies as the New York City Ballet, Santa Fe Opera, KCRep, Pennsylvania Shakespeare Festival, and Atlantic Stage in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. She received her MFA in Costume Design and Technology from the University of Missouri – Kansas City, and her BFA in Theatre Design and Technology from Coastal Carolina University.
